April Updates

April 1 - As I do every year, I take a moment to remember this day (6 years ago) when I was at work and received a phone call from USAA (US Asian Affairs) to tell me that we have been matched with a little girl.

I can recall this day so vividly, the nervousness and excitement overtaking every emotion, and that I had to call USAA right back to have them repeat everything they just told me because I was unable to write anything down because I was so excited. I could not believe the five year long wait was finally over and we were going to be a family soon. A few days later, FedEx delivered the most important package...information about our soon to be daughter and most importantly a photo...it was love at first sight.

No April Fools Day that day, but rather the best day ever!  Happy Referral Day!

Here she is 6.5 years later...

Enjoying the day outside!

Tanith's class project "Flat Stanley" is having a blast with grandma/pa and cousin Rebecca in Las Vegas for the Regional Robotic Competition!

Enjoyed an impromptu trip to Disney. Went on the Matterhorn and after the ride, they had to pull our cart to the side to accommodate someone having difficulties getting into the ride and because of the delay they let us ride again.  Tanith thought it was the best thing ever and was so excited that she got to ride the ride again...especially after asking me if we could go back and stand in line again for the ride. Lucky Day!

Aug 3 - It was a fun day at a park to celebrate school friend Zazie's 7th Birthday. The kids and adults had a lot of fun and could not have asked for better weather.

April 4 - Day off from school and work...so Disney was a must!

Playing an old school video game...Tanith did really good at Ms. Pac Man!

April 9:  The usual Saturday fun with gymnastics and running errands. Tanith has been able to get to the top of the rope for awhile now, but the much anticipated bell at the top has been just too far to hit, but today she hit the bell for the first time and was beyond excited.

This weekend was another day of firsts. On Sunday, April 10 Tanith decided she was going to ride a bike without training wheels.  She was determined and was not going to give up. In addition, she did not want me to hold on to the bike and provide assistance...she wanted to do it on her own...and she did. I could not be more proud of her and her determination to keep trying!
Look mom...no training wheels :)

Later that night, she helped out inspecting the car with daddy...she loves helping out with everything!

April 12 - Open House - Tanith was so excited to have us there to see all the work she has accomplished so far this year. The most impressive was the presentation on her Chrome Book on Sand Storms. There was so much to see and read, so I tried to capture it all.

Staying cool, the biggest chocolate covered strawberry every and cuddle time with Brady!

Passover dinner and three matching girls!

More Brady love!

4/29:  Schroeder School Fundraiser - Color-A-Thon was a blast  There was the obvious running, but with the added element of color that made it so much fun. There was also music, dancing, eating and laughing by all who attended and ran! I think everyone in attendance walked away a bit more colorful than they did when they arrived!

During and After...

4/30:  Super proud moment in gymnastics class today, as her coach officially announced Tanith was ready to move up to the next level.  She has been working so hard and the only thing that was in her way was the uneven bars...she needed to be able to pull herself up and over without any assistance. Today was the day and as I watched from a distance, holding my breath...it happened....SUCCESS!. Next week she still needs to take a test to ensure she is ready...but I think she is!
