Let the road trip begin...early Saturday morning and we are on our way. Daddy did not come with us on this trip because he had to work, but we had lots of family with us. Tanith has been talking non-stop about this trip for weeks...and I hope it lived up to her expectations. At six (almost 7) years old, she did let me know a number of times she did not like hiking (maybe that will change as she gets older), but she never complained about floating down the river and looking for river rocks (probably her most favorite thing to do on this trip).
We stayed at Thousand Trails Campground (just a short drive into Yosemite National Park) and stayed in a Yurt (which is a fancy tent on stilts, but has the comforts of home, which included: beds, a kitchen, bathroom, shower, and air conditioner (well a "swamp cooler").
Throughout the trip we did have a slight ant issue in our Yurt and keeping it cool in the afternoon was a challenge, but it did not ruin our stay at all and I would do it again.
Here is the name of our little village!

Our first adventure into the park and saw our first look at Half Dome and then continued to Bridalveil Falls to see our first waterfall. Later we also visited a place that I loved as a child and then higher up the mountain to get breathtaking views of the valley below and more of Half Dome. Tanith liked the story grandma told her about "Let the Fire Fall"; which is what the onlookers at the bottom of the valley would yell and then a massive fire "like" waterfall would light up the sky. They no longer do this event, but grandma remembers how amazing it was to watch.
Now on our way to Glacier Park to get more views of Half Dome!
Relaxing at camp and its grandma/pa's 58th wedding anniversary.
We did not see a lot of animals on this trip, but we did have an up close and personal photo opportunity of this young deer grassing in the field in the valley.
Getting ready to hike to the lower part of Yosemite Falls
Tanith visiting the museum and posing for a picture with John Muir
Today is our last day and also Tanith's Birthday - she got two gifts in the morning a bear pen from her cousins,a book about Yosemite from me and then we headed out for our final hike to Vernal Falls Bridge.
Yep...7 Years Old Today!
Another gift from mommy - do you think she is a happy birthday girl?
All sleeping off the day and heading back to camp to float and play in the river and then more birthday fun!
Here we are again, but this time heading home. The trip went by way to fast, but I hope a lot of great memories were made by the girls...I know I had many on this trip.
Bye bye Yurt
Still in good spirits...half way home!
Finally home safely!
