November Update

How big am I now?
Height:
Weight: 42.5

What's New
  • Starting off the month relaxing at home.  Both of us recovering from being sick and of course the Halloween activities the day/night before.
  • Tanith found a Chess Game and wanted to play it, but I told her she needed to learn how to play Checkers first, so Grandpa taught her.  Grandpa won game number one, but then Tanith won against me on game two.
  • Recap from Grandma.  The other day at therapy, Tanith went up to a little baby and she was trying to say "clap", the father thought she said "crap" and proceeded to lift the baby up to smell if she went potty...and that folks  is why we are in therapy :)
  • A few new words that Tanith is saying include:  Seriously and Really  These words are used when she is being sarcastic, making a point or pretending to be shocked by something we say.  Placement of the words is perfect too.  Where does she get this from....oh ya, me :)
  • The other day at the store she saw band aids with Hello Kitty and Princess characters on them.  She walked up said, "Hello Kitty, Princesses on band aids...I am going to cry.  So dramatic...crazy girl.
  • Have been playing a fun game for awhile now, but keep forgetting to add it here.  Favorite games to play with mommy:  Rock-Paper-Scissors, Tracing letters and numbers on each others back, so the person has to guess what the number or letter is; and always in the car we play I Spy.
  • Tanith's new hobby...collecting Rocks.  Not sure why, but she says she likes rocks.

Photos by Tanith (a new segment which in hindsight I should have started a long time ago...she is always taking pictures of people, herself and random shots, so I thought I should start capturing some of them here.  Here are two from Nov 1.  I love how she took the pictures, very abstract:

Random Monthly Photos

On our way to school...my Sunshine!

Crazy two...had to pose with every mannequin in the store.

Turkey (or as Tanith kept calling it, the Chicken) family art project for school.

Received her first award given at school as a Friendly Kindergartener and a look at some pre-gymnastic stretching.

Helping me cook dinner.  Let the record show, we have a supreme potato masher in the family...looks like I found the next "killer potatoes" maker for the holidays :)

Love this photo, I went to say goodnight and this is what I found.  It was not how I left her a few minutes prior, but she managed to redecorate her room in a short period of time with some of her beloved stuffed animals lined up behind her.  By the way, the way she is lying down with her hands behind her head is exactly how her daddy does it.  Love!

11/14:  The night at the museum.  The Indian Princesses, Tanith and daddy all had an amazing adventure at the La Brea Tar Pits Museum. Not only did they get to camp out on the floor inside the museum all night with all the dinosaurs, but they had a tour of the area and much more.  According to daddy, Tanith had a blast and was very eager to learn.  In Tanith's words, "this is my first time here, so I want to learn as much as possible"...which is what she did, by asking a LOT of questions.  Daddy said they were very good questions too, but a lot of them :)  Guess she also has a new "stuffy" to bring home named Lona...can't wait to see what daddy got her :)

This was a great experience for her. This was their first outing since joining the father daughter group and I am sure there will be plenty more firsts to come.  Oh, one other first that night.  Tanith told her daddy that she is big enough to go in the "girls" bathroom by herself...so daddy stood outside and let her go in.  Growing up way to fast in my opinion.

Nov 17-24 Tanith and Daddy in Costa Rica (I started a new job, so no vacation time).

Getting beautiful for Glori's Graduation Party

Out with the family...she is having so much fun...mommy who?

Home from their trip...getting back to normal.

Thanksgiving this year was spent quietly at home since everyone was sick. So no fun photos, just a few of sick Tanith

October Update

How big am I now?
Height:
Weight: 42

What's New
  • LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this photo to the right;.  This was your Kindergarten Picture Day outfit.  Growing up too fast!  This picture turned out better than your actual school photo :), glad I took a few pictures prior to going to school.
  • Tanith has a new bird, that flew into our backyard and she named it Dora.  Its a Quail and is a cute little bird who is lucky to have Tanith as a mommy.  She cleans up after Dora (who is very messy with her bird seed) and on her own. We never asked her to do so, she just noticed the mess and started taking care of it :)
  • Always asking me to share stories about when you were a baby. You love hearing about what you did, said and acted. One day when you are able to read, I am printing up your blog so you can read everything.
  • This month is Lunch on the Lawn at school, but mommy has to work and when I told you I could not go, you said "I should pretend I am sick so you can come to the picnic and not go to work".  I have no idea where that came from, especially since we have never done that before.  Our little "plotter"...we are in so much trouble when you get older! Luckily I got to work from home that day, so I was able to attend (see what happened below with the photos)
  • We have been reading Charlottes Web together for two week every night.  Loved the time we spend reading and the story. As a bonus you and daddy watched the movie.

No other way to beat the triple digit heat in October but by swimming at grandma/pa house.  Play date with her Santa Clara school buddies.  Megan, brother Conner and Sophia.  BFF's!

Tanith, that is Louie's bed...oh well, he does not seem to mind too much!

10/9:  Lunch on the Lawn at Schroeder Elementary.  I had told Tanith I could not make it, but if she could eat whatever she wanted for lunch, this would be the day.  She said, no that she would eat the cafeteria food.  Ok!  So she had no idea, but I was able to surprise her.  I had everything laid out waiting for her to come out.  Since she was not sure who, if anyone was coming, I saw her from the distance scanning the lawn, looking and still looking.  So to end the suspense, I got up walked over to her and said Hi.  She screamed and jumped into my arms...sooooo happy to see me.  She went to the cafeteria to get her lunch and made her way over to our blanket.  Her lunch consisted of chicken, rice and salad.  Salad!!! you do not like salad, but told me you got salad, because mommy loves salad....melt my heart.  Always thinking of others! We had such a good time and I am so happy that I was able to spend lunch with her on this special day.

Say its not true, yes it is...Tanith is so excited for her first field trip with her class. Its next month and she is going to a farm and taking a school bus.  Can check two things off of her bucket list :) field trip and ridding a school bus.  She could not contain herself when I got home from work, she told me all about it and said "don't worry mommy, it will be safe, can I go PLEASE!".  She knows me well, of course I will be a nervous and to top it off, I will not be there to take pictures.
Of course I signed the permission slip.

So Tanith and daddy went to a meeting for the Indian Princesses.  It is a special club, like Girls Scouts, but for daddy's and daughters only.  They have not signed up yet, but probably will.  Below is a picture of their hand prints and their special names.

What a nice surprise, our dear friends Brian, Doris, Samantha, and Sierra (whom we meet in China over four years ago) were in town on vacation.  We had the pleasure of having dinner with them and a quick afternoon trip to Disney.  Wish we lived closer to them, but it's nice to know we will remain in touch.

Afternoon out, getting the wheels washed!

Yet another trip to Disney.  Why not, we have passes and she loves going.  Ran into our friends at the end of the day.  Loved how Maddie asked Tanith, "Let's be best friends, ok"

The only time she takes a nap is in the car.  This is how she feel asleep while out with grandma/pa!

Trunk-or-Treat event at school.  Tanith was one of many Elsa's dressed up.  It was a fun, early treat gathering experience. The parents did a great job decorating up the cars and it was great seeing all the kids dressed up in their costumes.

I think this is officially the last day anyone will be in the pool this year...burrrrr!  I actually think this is the first time that I can remember that anyone every used the pool in October.  She was out quickly and then games with Grandma below.

Time for some Trick-or-Treating.  Both of us were a little sick, but that did not stop us, nor did a little bit of rain.  We managed to hit the circuit at 7pm and lasted about 45 min before someone's little legs gave up.  The challenge with our neighborhood is that the houses are not close to each other, so it does require more walking.  Tanith asked if next time we could bring the car...really!  She did manage to get a good stash of treats this year and had a lot of fun. I loved that she was so polite to everyone, and always ended with a Thank You and Happy Halloween!

Found this on my phone, Tanith's selfie video - giving the run down on Halloween.
