Doctors and more...

This week we had recheck at the doctors and happy to report that we are officially over the skin issues. She still has a little bit of a rash, but that is easy to clear up. She also received three shots, but unlike in China she handled it like a pro and I did not even need to give her a lollipop to sooth her. Actually not one peep came out of her. The doctor says she is doing exceptionally well with her development and even recommended we stop the bottles at night and only sippy cups, which she already uses during the day. We gave up formula awhile ago and she has been okay with the whole milk, but she does love her bottle at night. I think it is going to be harder on us. We have a little ritual every night that we will have to change. Doctor said go "cold turkey" but with her teething right now not sure if I want to take the comfort of going to sleep with her bottle away yet. We are scheduled to go back for her 18 mos checkup and more shots, so we have few months to discontinue the bottle.

We also made a trip to Knott's Berry Farm. Tanith went on a few rides and Rafa and I even got on an adult ride. It was a nice visit and a few hours was just the right amount of time. We think when she is a little bit older and able to go on more rides we will go back.

Party Weekend

This week was a busy one (seems like they all are now). Thursday we spent some family time in the evening and we walked around Downtown Disney (one step closer to going inside the park). We visited all the stores, shared a pretzel and even found a new best friend for Tanith at Build-a-Bear.

Tanith's US Passport arrived in the mail on Saturday and her tickets for CR. So happy the passport arrived (early) and that there were no problems getting it.

Saturday was Monet's 2nd birthday...Happy Birthday sweetie. We hope to celebrate with her very soon.

We had three parties on Saturday. The first party was for Galina and Tanith had a blast running around and playing with the other kids. The second party of the day was actually in tandem (next door) to that party which was Carol's End of Summer Blast (she has this block party every year with a live band and it always proves to be a lot of fun. The last party was for Linda and this is where we finished off the days events. Today is Sunday and we headed out to the beach in Palos Verdes for our friend Alex's wedding celebration party. Tanith had a few firsts during the party...she went on a swing, down a big kid slide and she played in the sand. Later that evening Auntie Trish came over for a visit (forgot to take pictures). It was a wonderful day to end a great week.

Family Time!

It is so nice to be home and spending time with the family. On Saturday we went to the Post Office to apply for Tanith's US Passport so we can travel to Costa Rica next month and visit Rafa's family. The rest of the weekend was pretty low key, which was nice for a change. Tanith is determined to feed herself and all the dogs and loves riding her new lazer bike from grandma/grandpa. My favorite picture is the one with Rafa in the crib with Tanith. She is teething and uncomfortable so her daddy climbed in bed with her for some cuddle time...too cute! Finally, today we went to our bank  and opened her first savings account.  What's next on the things to do?  Not sure...just enjoy!

Daddy and Me!

While I was off in Atlanta for the week, Rafa was on daddy duty. Even though I miss her very much, she is in great hands with her daddy. They had lots of fun together and ended the week at the zoo. Tanith loved the train ride and her little monkey daddy bought her.  So happy that I will be traveling home tomorrow.

I'm a US Citizen!

Tanith had a nice time at Sean's birthday party today and even got her feet wet in the pool. This also turned into a very special day of us. The mail man just delivered the official document that we have been waiting for...Tanith's Citizenship Certificate. Since we were delayed a bit getting to Tanith due to the type of paperwork we had to fill out for her adoption, one positive out of all of it was that as soon as we landed at LAX she became a citizen (no extra paperwork for us to complete). We were told that it could take up to three months for us to receive the official certificate of citizenship, but it came a lot earlier.

Next steps are to up date her SS# info and apply for a US Passport.

14 Months Today

The Traditional Dress
Mommy and now Tanith
What a busy day for Tanith. The day started off with a visit to the beach for lunch with her Uncle Rick, Matt and Emily and later that evening we meet the Rodgers for dinner at Kenny's. Kenny said we had to bring Tanith (of course we were) or we were not welcome...too funny. It is hard to believe Tanith is now 14 months old and it blows my mind that we have been home from China for about five weeks. We both miss the time we spent in China, the friends we made and hope they are all doing well. The day ended with a bath and a little cuddle time with Quincy.

Happy 14 month Tanith...mommy and daddy love you very much!
