Mothers Day Weekend Camping Trip

Newport Dunes Resort

This was our first "camping trip" together as a family.  We spent Mothers Day weekend down at Newport Dunes Resort (NDR). The purpose of the trip was to have our 1st Annual NDR Reunion, which was to get together with a lot of mommy/daddy's co-workers.  We all worked at NDR back in the 90's and that is where your mommy met your daddy.  We had so many wonderful memories working there and it was nice to get together with old friends.  But it was not only about the reunion, it was also time for us to spend together as a family.

We started on Friday, May 10 and were getting all our clothes and supplies for the weekend pulled together.  Before we knew it, you had started taking all of our things out to the car and packing.  You were soooooo excited to go camping that you wanted to get going as fast as you could.  I wish I captured you packing up the car on video, but I missed the opportunity. Once we got packed we headed out.

When we got to our cottage (aka small cabin), you were ready to check it out.  I think the one thing you liked the most was the bunk bed...you climbed right up.  Of course mommy was a little nervous with you wanting to sleep up there, so I told you next year when your older.  We unpacked the car and immediately headed over to Uncle Rick's motor home to see what they were doing.  It was late, so we had some dinner and then called it a night.  The next morning, you woke up and said "I want daddy", so it was cuddle time for the two of you.

We had a long but very fun day, which included: bike riding, walks, playground, swimming, barbecue and a campfire on the beach. You even roasted your very first marshmallow over the open fire.  You were so proud and said, "Auntie T put the marshmallow on the stick, but I did it all by myself...cause I am a big girl".  You even outlasted all the older kids and finally went to sleep at 10:30pm. Looking forward to doing this again next year!

May Update

Highlights

Height:  40inches
Weight: 34 lbs

It has been and is going to continue to be really busy in the Quesada household.

Coming up this month we have Tanith's school May Festival, a few birthdays and our first family camping weekend. So keep checking back as there should be a lot of photos and video soon.

What's New
  • You really want to learn.  The new thing on your list is how to spell your last name, so I taped up a sign on  your bedroom wall (underneath your name) with your last name on it and we practice at night...it is working!
  • You started a new thing (good or bad is yet to be determined). If you were talking and I interrupt you to ask you something, you say "let me talk"
  • You actually say M&M's now instead of "nienie"
  • Your favorite songs to sing and you request them by their names are: Glad You Came by the Wanted and from the movie Barbie: The Princess and The Popstar, Here I Am
  • You try and sing all the songs on the radio...you may not know all the words but you try.  My favorite is when you make up your own songs...you love to sing

May 2 was a hot day, in the high 90's. So how do you cool off? The old fashion way, with the garden hose.  Tanith played outside and then watered the plants, herself and even tried to get me wet. Staying cool was priority number one today.  Tomorrow promises the same temps, but it should be cooler by the weekend...just in time for the May Festival at Santa Clara Day Nursery!

We had a wonderful first day of the May Festival at Tanith's school. Today grandma and mommy where there to watch the show. There were thirteen different dance numbers performed by all the kids. The costumes where fantastic and the kids did a great job...very entertaining. After the show, there was plenty to eat and activities for the kids. Since we had another party to attend, Tanith only had time to get in the jump house, but there was also games and face painting. The Sisters did a great job organizing the event and of course all of the parents who volunteered. Tomorrow is another performance and I get to work the lunch line passing out hamburgers and hot dogs.

Also on Saturday we had a birthday party for Olethea at a park in Long Beach.  Tanith had so much fun playing, running and taking rides down a big hill in a wagon.

Tanith got a new electric tooth brush from daddy...she was so excited. As he tucked her in to bed, she said to him, "daddy I love my new tooth brush, thank you for thinking of me"...melts my heart!  Also, now you want to brush you teeth all the time.

May 12 Mothers Day
I had a pre-Mothers Day surprise when I picked you up from school.  You told me to close my eyes and then you presented me with a wrapped gift.  Inside was a card that you made, a photo of you and a basket...I loved them.

We woke up Sunday morning around 9am, after a long and fun day camping at the Newport Dunes Resort. We packed up and went to our favorite local diner, Kay's Kitchen for a Mothers Day breakfast. Later that day we went to mom/grandma's house and had a nice family dinner. I am so lucky and blessed to be your mommy and everyday feels like Mothers Day because of your sweet spirit.
