Go Tanith Go

Tanith is officially walking on her own. You can tell she loves the freedom of standing up and walking without any assistance. She is very independent, determined and strong...just like her referral stated back in April. Right now she is practicing mastering her walking technique and one of her unique talents is being ables to stand up while sitting down with her legs in a v-shape. She just stands without bending her knees. It really seems impossible that she does this and we even tried to do it and were unable to even move from the position. Of course I never get it on video...always too late, but I am determined to capture it.

Week Events

This week was a busy one with me going back to work, visiting with family and saying goodbye to Rafa's mom as she returned home on Thursday.

Saturday we had a nice family day with a visit to the salon for pedi and haircut and then lunch. It is amazing how fast the days go by now. Tanith is moving a lot more now and taking steps on her own. She is also testing our baby proofing around the house and she is winning. We need to upgrade some of our latches...well they have been on for 5 years waiting for Tanith so it is not surprising that some do not work that well anymore. The dogs now know to sit around Tanith during meal times and we have to watch her because she likes to feed them. We ended the day with a nice walk, even took Trek with us.

On Sunday my sister and nieces came over. We had a picnic and the girls played in the pool and slip-n-slide. It was great seeing them have so much fun together. We ended the day with a trip the store. Monet was still going strong, but  not Elyse and Tanith...snoozeville for them.

What a day!

Today was my first day back to work and I survived. I had a nice surprise when Rafa, Tanith and mami showed up at my work for lunch and of course that just made my day. Tanith got to meet some of my co-workers, well they got to meet her since she slept through it all. It was such a thrill when I got home from work to see the excitement in Tanith'sface that mommy was home and then it was off to have dinner with the family.  Tanith showed off her walking techniques and we now can add corn to one of her many favorite things to eat. Thanks Great Auntie Jo for sharing in the experience.

Welcome and Happy Birthday Tanith

What a wonderful day of fun, friends and family. We finally had the opportunity to celebrate Tanith's 1st Birthday since we were not in China when she turned one. We had a great day visiting with everyone and are so blessed to have such fabulous people in our lives. Thank you everyone for sharing this special day with us and we look forward to sharing many more.  I will post more pictures when I get them...I was so busy that I forgot to take pictures but my brother-n-law and parents took many so as soon as I get them I will post them.  For now, here is a few I captured on my phone...before and after.

Thank You Dinner

Had a great dinner at Kenny's (aka Fu Wing Lo's) with the Dudley's who took care of our 6 dogs, 1 cat, 3 birds, fish and house while we were in China (7th dog went to our good friend Alex's). We are so fortunate that we have such wonderful friends as next door neighbors and will always be thankful for all that they do for us.

We spent most of our time in Guangzhou China where Kenny (seen in the picture on the left) is from. He was so happy to finally meet Tanith.

Summer Fun

Yesterday Tanith took time out of her busy schedule to play in her little pool.  Buuurrrr the water was cold but she did not seem to mind too much. We had a fun day in the sun and then later dinner with grandma/grandpa. Today we have a lot of errands to run and then we have dinner with the Dudley's...believe it or not, we are going for Chinese :)

First Steps

Today Tanith walked two steps on her own walking from Tita to me. I cannot believe she will be walking on her own very soon. In a few more days we will be celebrating Tanith's arrival/belated birthday with family and friends. I really appreciate all the work my mom and sister have put into getting the party ready, I know I could not have done it on my own and they have done everything. Tanith still enjoys eating anything, even my cooking :), loves her new toy dog Scout (thanks Joel), daddy's laptop, any kind of remote and really anything we introduce to her.  I think we finally got a good routine set, but that will need to be adjusted a little since I go back to work next week.

Random Photos

Doing well in the Quesada house. Tanith is now on Cali time and adjusting well. She has a lot of energy and enjoys playing with all the dogs. She is now trying to walk and we predict she will be walking on her own in a few weeks.

Few days back and still upside down

It is amazing how much the travel back from China affects you. Did not seem to have trouble adjusting when we arrived in China but it is another story coming home. They say it takes awhile to adjust, but the sooner the better is what I am hoping for. Tanith is having lots of fun playing with her cousins and meeting all the family and friends. I will say that she is a trooper, as she has a cold, is teething and is adjusting to a new life, but yet she always has a smile for everyone. I am definitely loving the time off with her. My favorite time is in the morning when she wakes up and we have cuddle time.  On an interesting note, it is so true what they say about potty training in China (if you do not know I can elaborate later) and we have been lucky to keep it up the entire trip and at home. Today we bought her a special potty (sorta like the one she was used to in China) and it worked like a charm.  The next step will be for her to be able to tell us she needs to go potty...but I do realize she is only 13 mos and that we have plenty of time for that. Things I need to do is be better at documenting and uploading pictures and start on Thank You notes for all the wonderful gifts she has been receiving. Heading for the beach tomorrow and should have some good pictures to share later.
